Salt-Water Powered Car Approved In Europe

The Quant made its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show (pictured) in March, the saltwater technology has now been certified for use on European roads.

The main highlights of this salt water powered vehicle are as follows:
  • The car uses a saltwater flow cell system to power four electric motors
  •  Quant e-Sport limousine's top speed is 217mph - equal to a McLaren P1
  • Two 200-litre water tanks can provide a range of 373 miles (600km)
  • The four-seater is 5.25 meters (0.4ft) long and 2.2 meters wide (7.2ft)
  • Price and sale date yet to be confirmed, but may cost more than £1m
Nanoflowcell AG is the company behind the design, and they are currently preparing the technology for mass production. They say that they have got major plans, and not just within the automobile industry. The potential of the NanoFlowcell is much greater, especially in terms of domestic energy supplies as well as in maritime, rail and aviation technology.

Michael Schumacher ‘Waking up Very Slowly’ From Coma, Reveals Son

Schumacher's 15-year-old son Mick has revealed that Michael Schumacher is 'waking up very slowly' following the skiing accident which left him with horrific brain injuries.

The 45-year-old is being treated by a team of 15 experts in a purpose-built medical suite in this home after spending six months in a medically-induced coma following the accident in Meribel, France, in December last year.  His care is estimated to be costing his family 100,000 pounds per month.
French F1 commentator Jean-Louis Moncet told Europe 1 radio station: 'I saw his son and he told me that Schumi is waking up very slowly; very slowly. 'Although things are going at a slow pace, he has a lot of time, I would say he has his whole life in front of him to get back on track.'

Moncet, 69, also cast new light on the manner in which Schumacher was injured when he struck a rock during the fall. 'The problem for Michael was not the hit, but the mounting of the Go-Pro camera that he had on his helmet that injured his brain'.

It is understood that Schumacher remains immobile and unable to speak.

New Police Vehicle for Motorbike Campaign

Even the non car enthusiasts at work today thought this looked cool, so we had to share.  As one of the less inconspicuous vehicles in the war against road traffic offenders the Ariel Atom has become the newest member of the Avon and Somerset Police. apparently the car can do 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds with 350bhp. It has also held the Top Gear lap record for nearly two years.

A reader of Visor Down pointed out that the 0-60 probably goes down quite a bit once all of the police paraphernalia such as radar timing equipment, radio, NPR device, latest aerodynamic Hella pursuit lights and emergency equipment have been added on

Ariel Atom
There were also other interesting comments on the visor down site from contributors such as where is its front numberplate for it to be legal on UK roads, Yeh where is that??? and while we are on the subject someone also looked up the number plate and it doesn't exist - also illegal! (have not checked this myself)

Also comments about the amount of time that it would take a policeman to actually get in and out of the vehicle, surely the biker would shoot off again at this point if they really wanted to get away?

Anyway on the other side of the coin if you want to see the car in rel life without being persued by it you can as it will be at Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset on Sunday June 8 from 10am until 4pm. Admission to the event is FREE
